DAY 3

The Fast Track To Evolving As An Editor

Ever wondered why some edits blow up even when they’re not technically impressive?

While others might look super high quality… but just fall flat?

Or worse, they pack in so many different effects that you can barely tell what’s going on?

There’s a reason this happens

And once you understand what separates these edits, you’ll be able to stand out as an editor and make your edits hit harder

But before we get into that, there's something I haven't shown you yet...

I've given you a bunch of files over the past few days, but I haven't actually shown you how to use them

So as a little bonus, I'm pulling a video straight out of Editing Academy to show you exactly how to add the overlays you've downloaded to your edits

↓↓↓

Now, that's the technical side of things

But knowing how to add an overlay is very different from knowing whether you should use it in the first place

Think about it

You could have the highest-quality overlays, effects, and presets available...

But if you don't know when to use them, why they belong in a scene, or what you're trying to accomplish with them, they won't magically make your edits better

In fact, sometimes the simplest effect, used for the right reason at the right moment, can do more for an edit than the most impressive effect used without a purpose

It's not just about what you use. It's about how, when, and why you use it

Understanding this is one thing

Actually putting it into practice is another

Because knowing that every effect should serve a purpose doesn't automatically mean you'll know which effect to use, when to use it, or how to make it work with the rest of your edit

That takes more than just collecting resources or experimenting randomly until something looks good

But what if you could learn to recognize what makes certain editing decisions work, and start applying those same principles to your own edits?

That's something I'll be helping you with over the next few days

For now, though, let's get you another resource to experiment with

Your extra SFX pack

I've put together another pack of sound effects to add to your collection

Use them to add impact to key moments, build tension, or give your edits that extra layer of polish

Just remember what we covered today. Don't add sounds just because they sound cool. Think about what each one adds to the scene, and why it belongs there
